I've made about 50 of these! The first batch was entirely made of things I had laying around . . . including a giant rosemary bush! Legs the Xmas these on Bedford Ave. and at a pop up xmas thing, with the company of Tranny Claus and James Brown's Funky Christmas.

		<description>These are events or happenings I've been invited to partake in. They are mostly performance-based, but include installation, demonstration, participation, portability, public practice . . . all sorts of fun stuff!

◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥◥

Pattern Palace was part of the fabulous Fashion District Art Fair in Manhattan's Garment District. There, Brooklyn super-power Jeff Stark curated Artist Services, a one-stop-shop for actually useful things we artists can do for you. At the Pattern Palace, we used ICY HOT to transfer photocopied images to fabric. Ta-da! /// But why the 'stache? Textiles = ladyland, that is, until you get commercial. Learning of a cheap DIY production method–from a mustachioed young lady– can be an inspiring and challenging experience!

Summer 2012 I assisted Laura McMillian with her installation CRUMB at the Boatel at Marina 59 in Far Rockaway, New York. What a blast! Aside from designing the Lingerie Lamp and Corny Courture Deck Chairs, I helped Laura out with happenings including two pop-up, floating restaurants dockside and remotely—in the center of Jamaica Bay (!). Photos here by Kevin Muth, Tristan Wheelock + yours truly. Check out the full project on Ms. McMillian's site, huntingplaid.com

Experiment America at ICA Boston. Twelve suitcases filled with surprises were given to museum goers to enjoy throughout the premises. Mine, the Insta-Installation, contained three portfolios filled with printed + dyed fabrics, drawings and fiber scraps along with the tools and instructions to install them anywhere. Curated by Mr. Jeff Stark.

The Do-or-Dye Lab opened its doors for Bushwick Open Studios in 2012 year where I taught visitors how to leave those rainbow Grateful Dead tees in college and really DYE — death metal style.

I gave a lecture at UNAM in 2011 about representations of the body and clothing in illustration since the renaissance (IN SPANISH!) The commentary that actually made it past my nerves and through my accent sure had impact on the students . . . what response afterward!

Way back in 2010 I performed another exorcism with my friend Martha. That's a bass clarinet, in case you are as confused as everyone else.

		<description>Upskirt is an interactive, fibers-based installation by Kristin Reger and Laura McMillian.

Five giant dresses hang quietly in the gallery.
Austere from the outside, each skirt conceals a fabric explosion within.

&#60;img src="http://payload126.cargocollective.com/1/0/24771/4838700/Kristin Reger Laura McMillian Upskirt Exterior.jpg" width="500" height="334" width_o="500" height_o="334" src_o="http://payload126.cargocollective.com/1/0/24771/4838700/Kristin Reger Laura McMillian Upskirt Exterior_o.jpg" data-mid="28515289"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽

Upskirt includes a interactive performance at the opening reception where five formal garçonsl lift up petticoats inviting gallery goers inside. The skirts are lowered around guests to allow them to privately absorb the internal worlds.

&#60;img src="http://payload126.cargocollective.com/1/0/24771/4838700/garcon.jpg" width="500" height="323" width_o="500" height_o="323" src_o="http://payload126.cargocollective.com/1/0/24771/4838700/garcon_o.jpg" data-mid="28515496"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽▼▲△▽

Each interior is inspired by an environment that has traditionally fascinated artists, be it a natural occurrence – the Swamp, the Cave, the Sea – or a less tangible space – Outer Space, Hell on Earth. Here, these scenes are created with unconventional manipulations of fabric drawn from diverse printing and sculpture practices. Throughout the exibition, guests are invited to don gloves (available at reception) for a tactile experience of the dresses.

La Plata, Argentina
April 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I paint, draw, dye, sew and use binding techniques to create decorative abstracts. I experiment with materials- changing up the variables of surface, pigment, embellishment and display- to allow their individual properties to guide my creative processes. I strive for a moving, rhythmic, and engaging composition: one mimicking pattern, but lacking the rigid geometrical structures common to traditional decorative art. In this way, my art explores the possibilities of experimental decoration outside of the technicalities and pleasantries of design and application.

I am interested in exploring and manipulating the notion of decoration through mixed techniques, linework, and patterns. I take inspiration from obscure areas of nature, but do not imitate their forms. Rather, I keep them in mind as a loose structure of possibilities and let line and form carve meandering paths.

Imagination and intuition fuel my work, and an inherent irreverence for materials propels it in unknown directions. While working liberally, my experience with graphic design, fashion design and textile arts has filtered into my movements. Through instinctive actions and responses, design systems appear spontaniously.
Ultimately, my goal is to cross the wires of the eyes &#38; mind to affect the minds eye. By having the viewer ponder what s/he sees, the work functions as an inkblot, and stays with the mind as an undetermined puzzle of recognition.

Process is so much a part of my work, and this kinetic energy transfers through. It comes in waves and spurts, and wavers between complete control and utter weightlessness.
